Nothing is impossible
Estonian UNCONVENTIONAL FIGHTERS IN ESTONIAN DEFENCE FORCES STRUCTURE IS LIGHT INFANTRY WHICH ORGANIZES INTELLIGENCE, SABOTAGE AND OTHER OPERATIONS BEHIND THE ENEMY LINES.
ESTSOF, in training reservists for unconventional warfare places emphasis on guerrilla skills to operate independently, with EST convetional units or NATO special forces. Training for a uncovensional war during peacetime is a considered decision, as the ability to wage unconvetional warfare significantly improves and complements the overall combat capability of the Estonian Defense Forces.
RESERVISTS AS UNCONVETIONAL WAR FIGHTERS ARE FORCE MULTIPLIERS
Unconvetional warfare means applying guerilla tactics – ambushes behind enemy lines on Estonian soil – the weakening, fragmentation and destruction of the enemy. In addition, guerrillas are the eyes and ears of special operations, being able to guide allied firepower to the battlefield and by transmitting time-critical reconaissance information from hostile areas.
Guerrillas are trained to become masters of chaos, sowing panic and fear in the agressor. As a result, such a delay in the enemy´s actions wins extra time necessary to Estonian Defense Forces and the Allies.
Even a well-organized evacuation cannot remove all civilians from the enemy’s movement. The guerrillas also have a role here, as they can help gather and escape of the people left behind in the enemy controlled territory and also organize a resistance movement among the local civilian people who want to fight.
Today’s struggle also involves getting information to the conquered area, where enemy propaganda dominates, but also getting info outside the enemy controlled area. For example transmitting pictures and videos of agressors war crimes to world media.
